Precision
Craftsmanship

Conservation standards
Framing is treated as a specialized craft requiring precision, care, and close attention to the artwork.
Our Approach Includes:
High-quality archival materials
Conservation-focused mounting
Protective glazing selected according to the artwork and project requirements
Design consultation tailored to your artwork
Careful frame profile selection
Long-term preservation standards
Custom frame profiles milled, constructed, and finished in-house
Each project is handled individually to ensure the frame complements the artwork and the space it will be displayed in.
Built Entirely In-House
Woodman Frames does not rely on pre-cut, cut-and-join molding. Each custom frame is built in-house at our Long Island City studio, from milling the wood and developing the profile to joining, sanding, and finishing. This gives us direct control over the frame’s proportions, construction, surface, and relationship to the artwork.
Traditional Water Gilding
For projects requiring a gilded finish, Woodman Frames offers traditional water gilding completed entirely in-house. Gold leaf is applied using time-honored gilding techniques, allowing for burnished or matte finishes depending on the desired presentation. Water gilding is often selected for period frames, ornamental profiles, or projects where a hand-applied metallic finish is central to the design. Each gilded frame is developed to complement the artwork’s era, medium, and presentation requirements.
